A Beachside Engagement Session Along the Asbury Park Boardwalk

There’s something really special about photographing couples in a place that means something to them. For Nicolette and Kevin, that place is the Asbury Park boardwalk. The same stretch of shore where they got engaged, and the neighborhood where they now live with their dog. This wasn’t just an engagement session… it was a celebration of home, history, and the next chapter together.

As a photographer, I’ve had the absolute honor of working with Nicolette’s family for years—this will be my third wedding with them! Every time I’m invited back, it feels like reuniting with old friends, and I couldn’t have been more excited to spend a Friday evening with these two (and their energetic pup Quinn).

A Personal Touch in Every Shot

We kicked off our session on the colorful mural-lined side of the boardwalk. If you’ve been to Asbury, you know the energy—it’s vibrant, eclectic, and just full of life. Nicolette and Kevin fit right into that vibe, laughing together in front of bright backdrops and holding hands as they walked past the familiar spots that are part of their daily routine.

You can see how natural and connected they are—there’s an ease between them that makes them fun to photograph. And it’s no surprise. They got engaged right here on this very boardwalk, so every corner holds a little memory.

Meet Quinn—The Star of the Beach

One of the highlights of this session? Their dog, Quinn, who joined us down on the sand for the second half of the shoot. If you’ve ever wondered whether you should bring your dog to your engagement session, the answer is always yes if I’m your photographer! Whether walking along the water or posing between mom and dad, she added so much energy to their photos.

We kept things relaxed, letting Nicolette and Kevin walk the shoreline, splash around barefoot, and just enjoy being together. The wind picked up just enough to get that perfect windswept look, and the overcast skies gave us the dreamiest soft light over the ocean.

Third Time’s the Charm

It means the world when families keep inviting me back. Having photographed two of Nicolette’s siblings’ weddings, I already felt that warmth and familiarity walking into this session. There’s an ease that comes from already knowing how a family shows love, laughs together, and celebrates big moments—and it makes sessions like this feel extra special.

I can’t wait for the big day with Nicolette and Kevin. It’s going to be another incredible one with a fun crew that feels like family!

Planning your own engagement session in Asbury Park, NJ? Whether you’re locals or just love the Jersey Shore vibe, it’s one of my favorite spots for colorful, relaxed portraits. Let’s make something meaningful together.
